Historic Spreadsheet Investigation Project

Financial modeling and analysis are an essential part of 414 Capital’s daily activity. Several years ago the team's intellectual curiosity led us to discover that the history of spreadsheets had not been documented. Despite them being one of the tools that generate the most productivity in today’s business world, their inception and progress through time has not been duly documented

The 414 Capital team took on the investigative task of identifying, contacting and interviewing the greatest contributors in the history of spreadsheets: businessmen, academics, programmers, project leaders, testers, archivists, etc. We are currently working on an ongoing historical review of the history of spreadsheets

In parallel, the team has acquired historical pieces from diverse sources worldwide, to conform the largest existing collection of spreadsheet applications. The collection has hundreds of items covering from the first theoretical investigations in the 60s to the most sophisticated applications currently used

This section shares images of selected items from our collection for those who may find the topic interesting. New items are added to the collection continuously, so please check back soon to see the updates
